Description
Dr. Marylesa Howard has worked at the NNSS for almost 8 years and has held roles in both Scientist and Management roles. Her work has focused on signal and image processing techniques to support diagnostics (measuring devices) that capture information about physics experiments supporting the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration. Her most prestigious award is the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientist and Engineers, bestowed upon her by the White House. Marylesa puts a lot of emphasis on developing collaborative relationships with university professors and students, including co-advising Ph.D. students, leading summer intern research groups, advising Postdocs, etc. She has had two children while being a full-time employee, having weathered that side of balancing motherhood and a professional career. She presented in the morning and afternoon math and computer science panel sessions of OBU's Women in STEM conference held on March 20, 2021.
