OBU Yearbooks: The Ouachitonian

 

Riley-Hickingbotham Library’s Archives and Special Collections Department preserves the university’s historic yearbooks. The first, titled The Bear, was published in 1907. Beginning in 1909 and continuing to the present time, the yearbook has been called Ouachitonian.

Through his brave leadership, his skillful management and his strong determination the debt was lifted, and we believed that what our college is today we owe in a great measure to him. In token of our trust in him, our love for him, and our appreciation for what he has meant to us and to our college, we, the Staff of the 1916 Ouachitonian, respectfully dedicate this annual to Dr. Samuel Young Jameson our Ex-President.

Here's to all those in Ouachita's fold! Hurrah for the purple and gold! May other "Bears" grow in the years to come, For this is the very firs one.

    To our esteemed and beloved President, Dr. J. W. Conger, and Lady Principal, Miss Annie R. Storts, The Bear is lovingly dedicated by the Class of 1907.
