Abstract
Many Black-dominated industries and Black businesses arose because, in the early 20th century, white customers simply did not want to be in close contact with Black people. Although Jim Crow laws are no longer in effect, the era of legal and mass segregation set the basis for difficulties Black men face in obtaining the same standard of training for jobs as whites at companies that are not Black-owned or dominated. There are several proposed solutions that may address these issues.
