Description

This study explored the correlation between spiritual and paranormal beliefs and test the hypothesis that individuals without religious beliefs would believe stronger in paranormal phenomena. 66 individuals participated in this study. Participants were randomly assigned to read a historical or a supernatural story, which tested to see if this stimulus had any effect on the participant's answers—then completed questionnaires about their personality and religious beliefs. We found no significant correlation between spiritual and paranormal beliefs, but a link between traditional religious beliefs and PSI (parapsychological phenomena) was found. Results suggest further studies on the relationship between these beliefs.
