The Aftermath of Concussions in Athletes
Presentation Type
Poster
Department
Biology
Location
Walker Conference Center B
Description
An investigation was done to show the limited amount of studies on Post-Concussion Syndrome and regular concussions, and gather data about the need to find an alternative method of testing in regards to simply taking tests that ask about symptoms. It is believed that many athletes are not truthful about their symptoms, and that makes it possible for Post-Concussion Syndrome to be misdiagnosed. This leads to symptoms being present later in life and affecting the athletes’ mental and brain health after sports.
