Description

My work is the embodiment of cold and detached, but can resonate with representation of the modern day, working class person. The cold and distantness comes from the minimalistic design and in color. Mundane, utilitarian objects, such as bricks and cinderblocks, are used by the working class, and brings me back to my upbringing and seeing these objects being used every day. These structures are also influenced by architects of the Roman Era that emphasizes the repeating arches. The arches allow the buildings to soften and welcome the audience in. With my sculptures I do not want to dictate what is felt by my audience only to help to find what these sculptures will spark within themselves. The therapeutic processes of building these structures are the main reason I have continued. Building has always been an outlet for me using my hands to get the materials to do exactly what I am wanting allows me to have more control over the process and the outcome then it would in painting and drawing.
