Abstract
This research report explores contributing factors into the ever-growing counterintuitive role police play in suspect treatment. Current and preexisting literature illustrates a societal racial bias held by both civilians and officers. However, studies show external factors like stress (from job, home, etc.) and self-image cause a negative feedback loop disrupting law enforcement performance. Empirical evidence illustrates improved performance through informative and active engagement training for police officers.
