Abstract
The Ouachita Baptist University Board of Trustees approved numerous personnel-related issues during the board’s quarterly meeting March 12 on Ouachita’s Arkadelphia campus. Actions ranged from approving new faculty and staff appointments to tenure, promotion and sabbatical recommendations.
Dr. Raouf Halaby, who has taught at Ouachita since 1973, was named Professor Emeritus of Visual Arts and English. Dr. Halaby graduated from Ouachita in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and earned the Master of Science in Education from Ouachita in 1970. He also holds a Doctor of Education degree from East Texas State University.
Dr. Halaby has served as a Ouachita faculty member for 42 years, beginning in 1973 as an assistant professor of English. He was promoted to associate professor of English in 1980 and then to professor in 1988. In 1994 he was named chair of the Department of Visual Arts. Since 1998, he has continued to serve as professor of visual arts and English.
