Abstract

Cast in bronze by Little Rock sculptor Joe Adams in 1976, the ceremonial mace was a gift of the Class of 1973. It contains symbols of academic and Christian excellence: the Bible and the torch of knowledge; the Berry Chapel spire; and a globe which symbolizes Ouachita's global mission. OBU's Commencement Marshal carried this thirty-pound mace at the head of the graduation procession until a new mace replaced it in the fall of 2001.

This collection consists of a thirty-pound ceremonial mace.
