Abstract

According to a history by Horton Presley, there was a church on the site of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church before 1803, when the area was still French territory. Mount Pleasant is a small church which still functions today, and is a member of the Current-Gaines Baptist Association of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. These records were found in the personal effects of Rev. G.E. Presley, father of Horton Presley, whose family served the church for over one hundred years.

This ledger contains minutes and membership records of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Randolph County, Arkansas. Also included is a photocopy and a transcription of the ledger, together with notes by Horton Presley. There is also a photograph of Rev. David Alexander Presley.
