The Arkansas Baptist News (ABN) is the official news journal of Arkansas Baptists and is affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. Arkansas Baptists first published a statewide paper in the years prior to the Civil War. A number of different publications followed through the years, including those named “Arkansas Baptist,” “Arkansas Evangel,” “Western Baptist,” “Arkansas Baptist Banner,” “Baptist Index,” and “Baptist Advance.” Today, Arkansas Baptist News is the state’s largest religious newspaper with a bi-weekly readership of about 50,000. It is now a digital news magazine available at https://arkansasbaptist.org/. Read more about the history of the Arkansas Baptist News.

This series of collections contains digitized versions of the ABN archival collection grouped into five-year periods. The ABN issues contain Bible study lessons, messages, and devotionals; announcements about Arkansas Baptist churches and pastors; Arkansas and national news that affects Arkansansans and Baptists; reports on the state of the Arkansas Baptist State Conventions, its churches, the schools it supports, and its members; letters to the editor; and more.
