Arkansas Baptists first published a statewide paper in the years prior to the Civil War. A number of different publications followed through the years, including those named “Arkansas Baptist,” “Arkansas Evangel,” “Western Baptist,” “Arkansas Baptist Banner,” “Baptist Index,” and “Baptist Advance.” Today, Arkansas Baptist News is the state’s largest religious newspaper with a bi-weekly readership of about 50,000. It is published twenty-five times a year in an all-color tabloid format.
